Project Overview

Nestled along the cliffs of Santorini, overlooking the shimmering Aegean Sea, this boutique hotel is designed for couples and honeymooners seeking quiet luxury. The hotel features a compact but elegantly curved pool built into a stone terrace. When the owners decided to refresh the pool area, they were clear about one thing: the lighting had to enhance the atmosphere without distracting from the simplicity of the architecture. The request was passed on to Cyangourd Lighting, known for crafting tailored, water-resistant lighting solutions for hotels and resort pools.

Lighting Requirements
The hotel owners had three key requirements. First, the lights needed to be small and discreet so they wouldn’t alter the visual harmony of the pool wall. Second, they wanted a lighting effect that would bring a sense of intimacy and calm to the space, particularly at dusk. Finally, the system had to be reliable under Santorini’s challenging coastal weather—where salt, humidity, and wind can quickly degrade ordinary equipment.
Our Solution

After evaluating the architectural layout and environmental conditions, Cyangourd Lighting proposed the use of three 300mm RGB LED waterfall fixtures. These units were installed just above the stone wall’s edge, recessed into a custom groove to remain flush with the surface. The design team used high-transparency acrylic lens covers to soften the light, creating a shimmering ripple effect that gently reflected across the pool’s surface at night.

The fixtures were housed in IP68-rated ABS casings for full waterproof protection. Each light was configured with remote control capability, and the hotel opted to integrate them with their existing smart management system. This gave them flexibility to change lighting scenes depending on the season, weather, or special events like private bookings.
